BALANCING ACT

Fredda Wouters – 2023

3D-Streetart-Installation / 3D Trick Art

A step onto the rope - and Marienplatz lies at your feet. With "Balanceakt", Fredda Wouters transforms Munich's well-known old town silhouette into a 3D illusion that only reveals its full effect from the right angle.

Between Alter Peter, Marienplatz and Munich City Hall, a playful balancing act unfolds: painting, space and movement come together to create an image that visitors complete themselves.

THE IDEA BEHIND THE WORK

Fredda Wouters wants to surprise people with her art and take them out of everyday life for a moment. Her 3D street art opens up an artistic, often fantastic world in which the seemingly impossible suddenly becomes imaginable.

In "Balanceakt", this idea becomes a small test of courage above Munich: the scene appears risky, yet remains playful and makes art directly accessible - for everyone who is willing to find the right point of view.

THE WORK IN THE EXHIBITION

At Magic Bavaria, "Balanceakt" uses the effect of anamorphic 3D painting. Lines, surfaces and perspective are arranged in such a way that depth appears from a specific viewpoint and the painted cityscape seems three-dimensional.

The space in front of the image is part of the composition. Only when visitors take the right position does the impression arise that they are balancing above Marienplatz. In this way, the work makes perception directly tangible.

BAVARIAN CONTEXT AND CULTURAL CLASSIFICATION

Marienplatz is one of Munich's best-known places. With Alter Peter, the City Hall and the view over the old town, it stands for history, city life and the image many people associate with Munich.

Fredda Wouters does not show this urban space as a classical view, but as an optical illusion. A familiar Munich landmark becomes a new way of seeing the city - between 3D street art, Local Art and an interactive exhibition.

ABOUT FREDDA WOUTERS

Frederike, also known as Fredda Wouters, is a 3D street art artist. Her works move between painting, spatial effect, illusion art and encounter.

She wants to make art accessible to everyone and create places where people come together, exchange ideas and take away creative impulses. In recent years, she has taken part in international street art events and won numerous art awards.

Her work fits Magic Bavaria especially well because "Balanceakt" does not keep viewers at a distance. The work invites visitors to become part of the scene themselves and experience Munich from an unusual perspective.
