Facts about Magic Bavaria
Magic Bavaria is an interactive museum in Munich. Across approximately 1,000 m², visitors can explore more than 30 installations featuring optical illusions, local art and creative photo opportunities. Its themed rooms present Bavarian culture and landmarks from new perspectives.
The exhibition invites families, couples, friends and other groups to explore together, share a laugh and create unusual photos of their own. Along the way, they can learn more about Munich and Bavaria.
Magic Bavaria is also an event venue for companies. Its exhibition spaces host company outings, team events, team workshops, corporate events and Christmas parties.

Magic Bavaria’s exhibition and concept
Magic Bavaria presents Munich and Bavaria from new perspectives. The interactive museum brings Bavarian culture, landmarks and regional art to life through optical illusions, unexpected spaces and walk-in photo settings. Visitors can explore the installations, become part of the scenes and learn about the subjects behind them.
In upside-down rooms such as the Royal Hall and the Alpine Hut, the world appears to turn on its head. In photos, visitors can seem to hang upside down from the ceiling. At another installation, they can appear to balance on a slackline high above Munich’s Marienplatz.
In the illusion and mirror rooms, light and reflections change how visitors perceive the space around them. The ball pit inspired by a mountain lake and the Oktoberfest room invite visitors to explore Bavarian scenes and become part of the pictures.
Background information about Munich and Bavaria accompanies the installations. A free quiz about the Bavarian themes adds another activity to the visit. Guided tours can also be booked for school classes and other groups.
Visiting Magic Bavaria
A regular visit to Magic Bavaria usually takes about 60 to 90 minutes. The museum recommends the exhibition for children aged approximately six and over. Children under 14 may visit only when accompanied by an adult.
Tickets are available online and at the ticket desk. Walk-in visits are possible, but admission cannot be guaranteed if the available time slots are fully booked. The museum café serves coffee, other drinks and snacks. Free lockers are available near the entrance, where you will also find toilets. Additional accessible toilets are available in the MONA shopping centre. The exhibition spaces are air-conditioned.
Children’s birthday parties at Magic Bavaria
Magic Bavaria hosts children’s birthday parties from a child’s ninth birthday. A birthday group can explore the exhibition together.
Alternatively, you can book a birthday package with a separate party room. Optional activities include guided support during the exhibition visit and workshops.

School classes and groups at Magic Bavaria
School classes
Magic Bavaria welcomes school classes for trips and project days. For primary school classes, the museum recommends a visit from Year 4 onwards. Classes can explore the exhibition independently or add activities such as a quiz, a guided tour or a photography workshop.

Other groups and visitors to Munich
Magic Bavaria welcomes clubs, tour groups and private groups, among others. For visitors to Munich, the exhibition combines familiar sights of the city with information about Bavaria. Group rates apply from ten people.

Magic Bavaria is an event venue in Munich for company outings, team events, team workshops and corporate celebrations. Depending on the format, an event may focus on exploring the exhibition together, working on a team topic or enjoying a programme with additional activities. Individually planned events can accommodate up to 200 people.
Company outings and team events

Location and accessibility
Magic Bavaria is on the lower ground floor of the MONA shopping centre at Pelkovenstraße 145, 80992 Munich. The centre is directly next to the Olympia-Einkaufszentrum shopping centre. Underground lines U1 and U3 stop at Olympia-Einkaufszentrum. There is a parking garage at MONA.
Step-free access to the museum is available. Most of the exhibition is wheelchair accessible. Due to their design, some individual installations have limited wheelchair access or cannot be used with a wheelchair. An accessible toilet is available. Further information is provided in our FAQ.
Awards and partnerships
Magic Bavaria received the Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Award 2025.
As part of a partnership with the City of Munich, Magic Bavaria’s Oktoberfest room features official Oktoberfest branding. The room contains interactive photo scenes inspired by Oktoberfest and is part of the regular exhibition. You can read more about the partnership.
How Magic Bavaria differs from other museums in Munich
Magic Bavaria, WOW Museum Munich and Studio of Wonders Munich are separate attractions at different locations. Magic Bavaria is in the MONA shopping centre next to Olympia-Einkaufszentrum. Its themed rooms reinterpret Munich and Bavaria through upside-down settings, illusions, photo scenes and regional art.
WOW Museum at Tal 27 focuses on optical illusions and perception. Studio of Wonders at Hofstatt describes its offering as an interactive exhibition of contemporary art and design installations.
