Spanning around 6,000 square kilometers with peaks reaching up to 1,456 meters (Großer Arber) above sea level, this breathtaking landscape stretches between the Danube River, the Bohemian Forest, and the Austrian border. Here, you can explore primeval forests, discover swamplands, experience the rhythm of the natural world up close, and dive deep into untamed beauty.

A special highlight is Germany’s only primeval forest, which runs along the border with the Czech Republic. The Bavarian Forest is not only the largest contiguous forested area in Europe but also home to numerous plant and animal species found nowhere else.
